1. Heritage-Infused Accommodation
In September 2025, "Shiyi·Zhaoyuan," Zhaotong’s first intangible cultural heritage (ICH)-themed homestay, opened on the northern street of the ancient city. Housed in a renovated Qing-dynasty residence, it displays local ICH crafts such as Zhaotong paper-cutting, Yi embroidery, and bamboo weaving, with rooms named after folk tales.
2. Hands-On Cultural Workshops
Guests can join daily workshops to make oil-paper umbrellas or learn Miao batik dyeing. Evening “ICH Storytelling Nights” feature masters sharing the cultural roots of their crafts.
3. Community-Based Conservation
The project shares revenue with local ICH bearers and sources materials from nearby villages, fostering a sustainable model combining culture, hospitality, and community development.
